YWAM KOIVUMÄKI APRIL-JUNE 2018 NEWSLETTER

Jesus said,“If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you”. John 14:15 MSG

“Then the King will say, ‘I’m telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40 MSG

Isn’t it that the very heart of being a disciple of Jesus is to love Him with all of our hearts, with all of our minds, and with all our strength? Therefore, love is not just words just like what Jesus said in the above Scripture that if we love Him, we show it by doing what He told us. In Matthew 25: 35-36 are some of the things that God has instructed us to do.What joy the Father has, as He sees us all demonstrating our love for Him in different ways to the people whom He arranged to be the receivers of such acts!

Crossroads DTS Outreach in Rwanda

We mentioned in our last news that YWAM Koivumäki is sending a team of 6 to Rwanda for 9 weeks- 3 students and 3 staff. Each of them have stories to tell. The theme of their experiences with the Lord in different places where they served is: God is able to transform peoples’ lives and those who say YES when God asks/leads them to reach out to others.

The CDTS Team believed and knew that the Lord called them to go to Rwanda for such a season like this. They served in four places in Rwanda. Below are the stories that happened:

Gisenyi (Western province of Rwanda)
During street evangelism we met a young man who accepted the Lord Jesus as His Lord at Lake Kivu beach and after a crowd of other young men gathered around us.They  wanted us to pray for them. We prayed for them and we all felt that we were standing on a Holy Ground and that the Lord heard our prayers.

Kilinda ( Western province of Rwanda)
We distributed clothes to poor kids in this village. The parents and children felt loved and valued upon receiving the clothes. In addition we gave them (candies, cookies juice, something that they don’t get easily in their everyday’s life). It was a blessed time for such small place like Kilinda!

Kamonyi (Southern province of Rwanda)
Our team offer support for a pastor who had an old bake to get a new and he said that the Lord gave Him a promise of getting a new bike months ago. We are thankful that the Lord used us to bless this man and this will also help a lot his ministry moving from one village to another.

Children’s ministry- Sunday School for kids                                              Preaching in a public place!

Kigali (Capital city of Rwanda)
Visiting HIV widows made them feel also special because often those people are rejected and most of the time no one wants to be around them.

All the four places where we went, the Promise of God to each of this place was fulfilled. They told us the Lord has spoken to them that they will welcome people from Europe that speak a language that they cannot understand, but the Lord has provided a translator

as well. This word, Isaiah 55:10-11was fulfilled as our teach arrived in those places! Their faith was lifted up and ours as well because we knew that the Lord called us to Rwanda for such season like this.

Feeding time for kids from nearby villages!                Meeting people and sharing the good news in a park!

Walking with the Lord
Every YWAM Koivumäki family member learns that walking with the Lord is not only when he/she  is serving in a church,  in an event,  in a camp, or sharing the Gospel on the street to strangers. It also involves our everyday “normal life” like cutting grass, cutting wood, piling wood, cleaning the training center or entertaining visitors who drop by at the center.

As you can see in the pictures, we do practical works that sometimes test our character. How  we respond to each other when we are asked to help in cleaning the center, prepare beds for guests, cook for others, cut the grass and pile the wood in the barn when we don’t feel like doing them. The Lord have been teaching and challenging us in our worship and devotion to Him by willingly and humbly doing these practical things in the training center as an act of worship and blessing the other members of YWAM Koivumäki family.

Each of us has to choose and believe that God is always in the process of finishing what He started in us. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at he day of Jesus Christ.(Philippians 1:6) that is why we have been learning also that He uses people and circumstances to conttinue making us more and more in the image of His Son,Jesus!

Ordinary life situations are instruments of our Living God to show us that His grace is sufficient for each of us and He is also at work in these times when we think that we will only see Him work in us when we are out there doing ministry and great things for His Name. Everything that we do for His glory brings honor to Him and a smile on His lips.

YWAM Koivumäki team had the opportunities to minister in several places where they were invited to serve in different ways: preaching, teaching, praying for people, giving their testimonies, sharing the Gospel on the streets, and doing practical works.

What the Lord have taught us is that every time we go out where He sent us, He will do what He is excellent at: meeting people where they are heal people, encourage and refresh people.

After our worship and intercession time, two YWAM koivumäki staff went to town. They went to S-Market and felt led to talk to a man in the shop. They approached him, talked with him and then asked him if they could pray for him. He enthusiastically said yes. After the staff prayed they left him and that’s when this man ran after them but could not find them outside the shop. The man asked a taxi driver if he knew where these young people lived, the driver said and he gave the address of YWAM Koivumäki to this man. The next morning, he came to YWAM koivumäki. He shared to us that early that morning, he called his wife and 2 sons that he has an encounter with the Lord and how God has answered that request he had 30 years ago. He decided to be born again and we prayed for him. Wow, what an awesome God we have! God has not forgotten this man and He encouraged us to keep praying for people to encounter the Living God and then go out and meet these people whom God wants us to share His love.
