YWAM KOIVUMÄKI’S JULY-SEPTEMBER 2018 UPDATE
1 Corinthians 2:9 However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him
Haggai 2:9 The glory of this house will be greater than the former,” says the Lord of hosts, and in this place, I will give peace,” declares the Lord of hosts”
The Bible says that “without a vision-dream, people perish” so be courageous enough to live your dreams based on your God-given vision, purpose and calling instead of others’ expectations, opinions, and limitations.
This is the time to pursue the visions/dreams that the Lord has given to us. If you have forgotten them, it is time to pick them and declare them and let faith arise in your hearts. This what YWAM Koivumäki did during a week of seeking the Lord, listening to Him, worshiping and praising Him. The Lord reminded us as a family that the vision He has given to YWAM Koivumäki four years ago did not change instead He even made it clearer and bigger by giving specific details about it so we can see them through His eyes and be encouraged and do not give up nor forget His promises.
The scriptures above were the words that the Lord has given to us to refresh, challenge and strengthen us. He was showing to us that when it seems nothing is happening and things are not going in the way we expect them to be, then it is a sign that the Lord is getting our attention to take time to listen and be still instead of trying to move things so we can see results.
Meet Amani, the daughter of Henri and Tata! She enjoyed exploring YWAM Koivumäki when she came with her parents and younger sister for a three-day staff training. Her love to sing and worship the Lord is such a blessing and reminder for us all that we can go to the Father like a child who enjoys being with her Daddy.
Thank God for the warm weather, YWAM Koivumäki family were able to continue cutting woods and piling them in the barn. The paint of the outside walls of the main building were peeling off so Koivumäki family repainted them but there is still a part that needs to be done by next summer.
As you can see in the pictures below, each day as we work, we are being encouraged by the faithfulness and goodness of the Lord who daily give us grace, mercies, strength, and joy to worship Him with our whole being.
It is in everyday life situations when no one is watching when the body gets tired and yet there are still a lot of things to do that our attitudes were tested. The Lord surprised our team every now and then when He sends our provisions in different ways so we can pay our financial obligations.
On the first week of August, we all attended YWAM Finland Staff Gathering in Rovaniemi. This was an important time for us as a family because we were able to spend time with the other YWAMers from other YWAM Finland Centers. We seek the Lord together, prayed and interceded for this nation and other nations that the Lord showed to us to pray for; listen together to the Lord’s plans and purposes for the coming months and years and how we should continue strengthening our relationship with Him and as a YWAM Finland family so we can obey the things that He is leading us to do for His glory, honor and Name’s sake.
After the Staff Gathering, we returned to YWAM Koivumäki with renewed passion and commitment to continue knowing the Lord more intimately in our personal walk with Him and as a family. In the kingdom of God, preparation and training are important in order to serve and give to others what we received from the Lord. We continued worshiping, praying and interceding for the nations, for the churches in Finland, the government and other issues that God showed to us that matters in His heart purposes
YWAM Teopolis came to YWAM Koivumäki to spend time with us to seek the Lord, worship, to plan, encourage each other, listen to each other’s story, have a fellowship in order to get to know each other in a deeper way and have fun as a family during meal times. During these three days of waiting and seeking the Lord, we were all encouraged by the Lord. When we take time corporately to listen to Him, He reveals what is in His heart and He shows what He is doing. He wants to partner with us so we are not doing things on our own.
We continued serving in the nearby churches, ministering to individuals and working with the other people whom the Lord connected to us. We are also preparing for the coming schools in January and April 2019.
Outreach in the Bible Land
This year one of our staff had the privilege to serve in the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem. This is what she experienced. “It is always a privilege and an honor to walk in the city mentioned many times in the scriptures. Personally, Psalm 122: 2”Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem” came strongly alive as I was in a prayer room on a hill looking at the mount of olives worshiping and thanking God for such blessing to see my feet standing at the gates of Jerusalem.
For the past four years, I have been at the feast of tabernacles or Sukkot in Jerusalem as a team member for the ICEJ (International Christian Embassy Jerusalem). On the day of the Jerusalem march, I am always amazed by many nations united by their love for Jesus Christ and the Holy Land, marching and worshiping the Lord in the streets of Jerusalem during the Jewish celebration of Sukkot.
This fulfills the prophecy announced by the prophet Zechariah, “And many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to seek the Lord Almighty and to entreat him. ”Zechariah 8:22
New Season, New Adventures
The Lord has been showing to us that He is taking us as a family in a new season. Some of the staff who used to live and serve with us in Koivumäki are doing new things: studying, working, involved in new ministries outside of YWAM Koivumäki, moved in another YWAM base and moved to another place.
God has been teaching us that He is the author of the adventures, challenges and the new things that He planned ahead so that we will discover more and more who HE is to us in every season, every circumstance, every victory, and every failure corporately and individually.
He is also teaching us that He is the One who calls and sends staff to our center, therefore, we should keep on asking in faith that He will send the right workers in His vineyard.
